Sean Young

I'm a scientist, innovator/entrepreneur, and medical school and information and computer science professor (split appointment). I'm also the author of the #1 Wall Street Journal and international bestselling book, Stick with It (HarperCollins), on the science behind how to make lasting behavioral change. I help people, patients, and businesses make lasting changes in their lives and work. I study the science behind human behavior, and how technologies can be used to change and predict behaviors (see predictiontechnology.ucla.edu and digitalbehavior.ucla.edu for more info about these fields of research). My work as a medical school professor focuses on changing and predicting health behaviors and disease outbreaks using mobile technologies and big data. We study how to solve these problems at the behavioral level, BEFORE they actually occur. I also organize and educate about hackathons/ways to crowdsource public engagement in health, including Chairing UCIPT's annual, "The Opioid Hackathon," a 24-hour hackathon designed to create implementable solutions to address the opioid crisis. http://predictiontechnology.ucla.edu/events/the-opioid-hackathon-2018/
