Great companies are born from great ideas and basic research. Academic research labs are the original incubators. Learn about how partnerships with industry are bridging innovation and entrepreneurial development.
Stage
Although the eyes are the window to the soul, the voice may be the window to health. Our voices are produced by a complicated dance among the respiratory, laryngeal, and articulatory systems. Disruption in any of these systems produces changes in our voice, which can be seen from babies with autism to the elderly with Parkinson's disease. Here, we demonstrate vocal changes in different disorders and how statistical models can quantify these vocal changes, using baby cries from our ChatterBaby Cry Translator research study.
Sessions
This talk will highlight how deep learning AI can be used to extract meaningful patterns from the millions of pixels in a medical imaging exam.
Sessions
In this era of big data, imaging devices like microscopes and MRI scanners can capture nanoscale details in five dimensions (x, y, z, time, and color). The resulting volumetric images have immense scientific potential, but there are challenges in managing and visualizing these massive datasets. Most current visualization tools have steep learning curves and require powerful computers to deliver interactive high definition renderings. They also typically lack collaborative features, which creates a barrier to sharing and viewing their multidimensional data with colleagues and the public in real time. To overcome these challenges, we developed Microscape, a software package for visualizing imaging data in three, four, and five-dimensions (3D+). Microscape runs on multiple devices including PC, Mac, mobile, and in virtual reality. The application can be used locally or via the web, providing collaborative tools for groups of researchers to simultaneously view and control shared 3D+ datasets from remote locations. Our mission is to create open environments for collaborating around 3D+ imaging data.
Sessions
The evolution of healthcare is headed towards personalized medicine -- learn how AI will help tailor diagnostics and therapeutics to individual profiles with large-scale analytics.
